Copper pipe looks pretty, with its shiny new penny coloring and tone. Copper is also used to make copper press fittings, and these fittings are unlike anything you have ever used to connect pipe before. Better yet, you will probably wonder why you have never used these press fittings before. Here are some reasons why you will love press fittings so much that you may never use anything else ever again.

No Welding or Soldering Is Needed for Press Fittings

Oh, all those hours you spent soldering and welding copper fittings to pipes! Too bad you cannot get those hours back, but at least you will not lose any hours to soldering and welding fittings going forward when you use press fittings. With press fittings, you simply join the pipes to the fittings, and then use a clamping wrench to squeeze the press fittings closed around the sections of pipe connected to the fittings. Bing, bang, boom! Done!

No Leaks

Press fittings generally do not develop leaks unless they have been cut, or they have ruptured from intense pressure. If you do not install a press fitting in a section of pipe that is under extreme pressure, this will not be a problem. When you avoid cutting a fitting to make it fit in a particular location, and you squeeze the fitting tight around the pipes, it will hold up amazingly well.

Rust or Leached Lead? Nope!

Yes, you are "crushing" the press fittings to fit, but here is the thing; the crunched pipe will never be a health hazard. You never have to worry about rust with copper because copper does not rust. It may get a nice green patina on it, but the patina is not harmful to humans or animals. Lead pipe would definitely rust, and it leaches lead into whatever runs through the connecting pipes. You definitely do not want to put more lead into anything that may leak into the environment or be consumed by humans and animals. Copper fittings protect all of the above, even when they are "pressed" into service.

Get the Perfect Fit Every Time

There are different press fittings in copper for all kinds of pipe sizes. You not only get the convenience of fitting the pipes you have with an easy to install fitting, but you also get the perfectly fitted fitting every time. If you cannot find a copper press fitting that fits the pipe you have, ask the manufacturer about custom press fittings.
