Whether you have one of the Brother products, or another brand of printer, you are going to want to make sure that you are caring for it properly. This way, your printer will last for as long a possible. Here are some of the things that you need to keep in mind:

Get Rid Of The Dust And Dirt

Over time, dust, dirt, and even some toner will build up inside of your printer. It is vital that you are taking to time to get rid of all of it. If you don't, you will eventually find that your papers could start to jam or you could end up with streaks of ink running down your paper. Both of those instances are things you want to avoid. While the cans of air might be an option, the better choice would be to use a vacuum hose to suction out the debris. If you use a can of air, you want to tread lightly because you do not want to be so forceful with the air that you damage any sensitive internal parts of the printer.

Clean The Print Head

If you use the printer a lot, this is something that you will want to do about once a month. Of course, you need to be careful during this task, otherwise you could damage it beyond repair. Clean the head with lukewarm water after removing the cartridge. Never use rubbing alcohol or forcefully clean it with tissues. Allow the head to completely air dry before you put it back in the machine.

Always Replace The Cartridges Before They Go Dry

Too many people make the mistake of trying to get the last bit of ink out of their printer cartridges before they have them replaced. The thing is though, you want to replace them before they go completely dry. When you wait until the very last drop of ink has been used, you are putting your printer head under a lot of wear and tear it doesn't need to go through. The more this is done, the quicker the head will malfunction and need to be replaced. Therefore, you will want to keep a few spare cartridges in stock so you do not have to worry about running out.

With the right care, your printer will function nicely and last for a long time. Should you start to have problems with it, call someone who specializes in printer maintenance and repair. Check with companies like Hales Machine Tool Inc for more information.
